The Fertility Goddess Returns to the Turf ©2005

Prior to the 1930's golf was played on chemical-free grass, but golf courses have since become a major source of pollution, and also an example of mismanaged water resources. Despite the fact that no herbicide can destroy both the dandelion and her seeds, the chemicals used to kill broad-leaf weeds can cause intergenerational impotence in humans.
This fully functional golf bag was constructed from a 6-inch diameter sewer pipe. A large digital image printed on canvas, of a dandelion going to seed, was then made into the bag. The act of taking this golf bag onto a manicured golf course juxtaposes the image of the fertile dandelion and the impotence of the cosmetic green turf. Gallery installation is beneath an umbrella which represents the drifting seed.
